I showed my wife this:

Kinja'd!!!

She loves mid-2000s Euro wagons. We’re putting leather in this car because it’s got 83k miles and the light gray interior. The light gray’s stained pretty badly and it needs a carpet shampoo.

It’s n/a 2.4 5-cylinder with auto. She’s probably going to find a way to get the cash for this car in the next few days because she’s a determined, stubborn redhead.

Those things sure are pretty, but tiny. You could probably leather that whole interior with a couple of guinea pigs :D

It’s not so bad, considering. The only people who’d be going in the back are a pug and a cocker spaniel, or our 9-year old niece or 6 year old nephew.

I was searching for a manual V50 T5 when doing the car search that led me to the BMW. I thought the V50 T5 didn’t come in manual in the US at first, but then I started finding a few. There was one in San Diego...the only one on sale in the entire country from what I could tell.

Of course, after I bought the 1-series both a manual V50 T5 and a perfect manual E91 showed up near me. So it goes.

It’s a great, comfy little runaround. Not fast, but enough for daily use and with the auto you can still kick it down a gear if you need to. Probably a good idea to have the timing belt checked, it’s getting close to the mileage and I’ve heard horror stories of ones failing at only 85K (most last until 120K though).

Well, if she likes mid-2000's Euro wagons, this one happens to be one of the smallest and therefore most maneuverable so it’ll likely be a good fit. Love the Barents Blue.

She had a hopelessly unreliable B6 Passat and loved it. However, burning oil through the turbo, rust issues and weird electrical gremlins abound.

Had one for a few years, the 2.5i with an auto. It was a great little wagon.

There’s not a ton of room in the back seat, but it will do family duty for 2 kids plus strollers and luggages and whatever else you need to travel with.

Also the most reliable car I’ve ever owned. I’d highly reccomend it. (Though I would suggest looking for a T5 version, they often had comfier seats and turbo power).

When we finally got a bigger family hauler, I took the wife’s V50 2.5i auto as my main car until I could sell it and get something more fun for my daily driver. Very high on my search possibilities was a V50 T5 manual. I’m pretty sure there was only one available when I was searching too.

Shame too, that would be my near perfect car.

My buddy has the sedan with that engine and auto. He maintains it religiously at a Volvo dealership and is clean as a whistle, some 100-ish K thousand miles on it. He tells me it is a reliable car, works well, and then he told me about this huge ass list of parts he has replaced so far. Be very aware and good luck if you get it.

He has an offer to get a new S60 T5 lease for $1500 down and $300 per month plus tax for 36 months. He makes so much money that he could pay the monthly payment in 5 hours of work. Not sure what the hell he is waiting for...
